Board Room Briefing – from the Chairman
This will be the first of many pieces throughout the year to update you and keep you informed of what’s happening on the Board.
The board meets three times a year, principally to endorse policy, but we are also an active group who want to move the CBCs forward as a beacon for the wider Industry. We have an increasing number of LABCs becoming Chartered, which is good for the Institute and for the scheme. We are demonstrating an ability to add value to a diverse and yet select constituency within the industry, and I believe the CIOB – and the scheme – is uniquely placed to meet the needs of many key industry organisations.
The mission of my tenure as Chair is to raise the profile of the CBCs within the Industry. This will be good for the CBCs and good for the industry. In these challenging times, being a CBC is, in my opinion, a great selling point for your Consultancy/Company and puts you to the forefront of any competition. It clearly demonstrates that your firm is run by professionally qualified people.
Now, we want more quality organisations to understand the benefits of membership. Therefore, I have four questions for you:
- What is our USP as CBC's - what does a CBC represent to our clients and the public at large?
- What should our strapline be? (See front page.)
- Who or what are the higher 'qualifying' organisations we can best link with? (This has to apply to LABCs as well as Consultancies and Companies.)
- What would be the most useful merchandise for you to give out or wear? The list is endless - CBC Ties, Lapel Badges, Scale Rulers, etc. - but we want your feedback on what has been inherited and what you would like.
Please send your suggestions to Jess Deacon at jdeacon@ciob.org.uk. There will be a bottle – (most definitely alcoholic and chosen personally by the Chair!) – for the best suggestions received by the end of September.
